One-Year or Semester Study in English at EU Business School (Freemover in Germany, Spain & Switzerland)

EU Business School offers the chance to study in English for either one semester or a full academic year at campuses in Germany, Spain, or Switzerland. As a student considering an international experience, here’s everything you need to know – from campuses and courses to application steps, fees, and the vibrant campus life awaiting you.

Campuses in Germany, Spain, and Switzerland 🌍
EU Business School (EU) boasts four European campuses in some of the continent’s most exciting locations: Barcelona (Spain), Geneva and Montreux (Switzerland), and Munich (Germany) . Each campus provides a unique cultural experience while delivering the same high-quality business education entirely in English .
• Barcelona, Spain:
Study on the sunny Mediterranean coastline in a city known for its innovation and startup scene. The Barcelona campus places you in a culturally vibrant city with perfect weather and rich Catalan culture, plus an entrepreneurial tech hub that offers unbeatable networking opportunities .

• Munich, Germany:
Immerse yourself in Europe’s dynamic business hub. The Munich campus sits in one of the world’s safest and most vibrant cities . You’ll experience German efficiency and Bavarian hospitality. Munich is home to many global company headquarters, meaning plenty of industry exposure.

• Geneva & Montreux, Switzerland:
Live and learn in the heart of Europe’s diplomatic and financial center. The Geneva campus is surrounded by international organizations and leading corporations – an ideal backdrop for studying global business . Montreux offers a picturesque setting on Lake Geneva with the same academics. In Switzerland, you’ll get hands-on experience in a multicultural, cosmopolitan environment .

No matter which campus you choose, you’ll be part of EU’s single integrated system. Many students even take the opportunity to travel between campuses, since the program is unified. And remember – all courses are taught in English, so you can focus on learning business concepts instead of a new language .
Program Options: One Year or One Semester
How long can you study abroad at EU?
It’s up to you! Prospective students may come to EU Business School for an international exchange/study abroad program for one or two semesters (terms) at either the bachelor’s or graduate level . In other words, you can join for a single semester abroad (approximately 3-4 months) or a full academic year abroad.
• One Semester Abroad:
Perfect if you want a taste of Europe and international education without delaying graduation at your home university. In one term, you’ll earn valuable credits, experience a new culture, and greatly expand your worldview. It’s amazing how much growth can happen in just a few months abroad!
• One Academic Year Abroad:
Ideal if you want deeper immersion. Spending a year means two semesters of coursework, allowing you to take more classes and really sink into the local culture. A year abroad often makes you feel like a local – you’ll have more time to travel around, form lasting friendships, and possibly become fluent in the local language outside of class. Academically, a year can let you complete a significant portion of a degree or specialize further.
Courses and Academic Offerings 📚
As a study abroad or exchange student, you will join regular classes alongside EU’s full-time degree students, following the same curriculum and academic standards.
• English Instruction:
All courses at EU are conducted in English, even though you’re in the heart of Europe . This means you won’t miss a beat in your studies – the classroom language is the same as back home (if you study in English), and you’ll expand your business vocabulary globally. (Tip: You can still practice your German in Munich, Spanish in Barcelona, or French in Geneva outside the classroom for personal growth!)
• Course Selection:
You’ll be able to choose from courses that fit your program and level. Depending on whether you’re an undergraduate or graduate student, you will take courses at the corresponding level (bachelor’s or master’s/MBA). The courses you select must suit your current academic level, ensuring you meet any prerequisites and get credit transfer easily. For example, bachelor’s exchange students might take classes in International Marketing, Finance, Entrepreneurship, Digital Business, etc., while MBA exchange students can join advanced courses like Strategic Management or Organizational Behavior. EU offers programs in Business Administration, Communication & Public Relations, Leisure & Tourism Management, International Relations, Sports Management, Digital Business, Marketing, Finance, Enterprise, HR Management, and more – so there is no shortage of interesting classes to pick from .
• Credit Transfer:
Each course at EU Business School carries ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) credits. This makes it straightforward to transfer credits back to your home university. The minimum full-time course load is 20 ECTS per semester for study abroad students , which is typically about 4–5 courses, to ensure you meet student visa and home institution requirements. Upon completion, EU will provide an official transcript of your grades, so your hard-earned credits can count toward your degree at home (be sure to pre-arrange credit approval with your academic advisor before you go).
• Academic Quality:
EU prides itself on a dynamic, experiential learning approach. Classes often feature case studies, group projects, and even business simulations. You’ll learn from a mix of seasoned professors and active business leaders (entrepreneurs, executives, innovators) who bring real-world insight into the classroom . The small class sizes mean you get plenty of interaction and mentoring. In fact, EU emphasizes “learning by doing” – expect engaging seminars, company visits, and even guest speaker events as part of certain courses. By the end of your semester or year, you’ll have gained both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to boost your resume.
Application Procedure & Eligibility ✅
Applying to study abroad at EU Business School is a straightforward process.
How to Apply (Step-by-Step) and Secure Scholarship at the same time:
1. Complete the Agent Scholarship Application Form
– You can apply online through the EU Business School website. Fill in your personal details, academic background, and desired campus/semester. Make sure to get your documents ready (see list below) to upload or send along .
2. Write or film a motivational essay
– This is your chance to show why you want to study abroad at EU. You can either write a short motivation letter or even submit a 2-3 minute video essay introducing yourself and explaining your goals . Be genuine – let your enthusiasm shine through! This essay helps the admissions team get to know you beyond grades.
3. Send all required documents
– Along with the application, you’ll need to provide certain supporting documents. Generally, applicants should submit:
- Academic transcripts from your current university (showing the courses you’ve taken and grades). If you’re applying at the bachelor’s level, you may need to show your high school diploma as well. Graduate-level applicants should include their bachelor’s degree/transcript .
- Proof of English proficiency (TOEFL, IELTS, etc.) if English isn’t your native language or if you don’t study in English at your home institution. EU requires a certain level (for example, IELTS 6.0 or equivalent) . This ensures you can follow the English-taught courses.
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) or résumé – a brief overview of your education, any work/internship experience, and skills .
- 2 letters of recommendation from professors or academic advisors who know you well . These should attest to your academic ability and character. (If you’re already working, you could alternatively provide employer references.)
- Motivation essay or video (as mentioned in step 2) – if you didn’t submit it through the online form, include it in your document package .
- Copy of your passport (ID page) for identification .
4. Pay the application fee
– There is a non-refundable application fee of €200 (or CHF 200) that must be paid when you submit your documents . Your application will only be reviewed once this is paid. (Tip: have a credit card ready or check EU’s payment instructions for bank transfer options).
5. Application review by EU Admissions
– Once your complete application is submitted, the Admissions Department will review everything . They will evaluate your academic profile, motivation, and fit for the program.
6. Await confirmation of acceptance
– If all goes well, you will receive an official acceptance letter securing your place in the study abroad program ! This usually comes by email. The timeline can vary, but you should hear back in a few weeks. (Feel free to politely follow up with the admissions office if you need a faster decision or have another offer deadline.)
7. Prepare for your studies
– Once accepted, the real adventure begins. EU will guide you in next steps like securing your student visa (if needed), arranging housing, and registering for courses. (Keep in mind visa processing can take time – you’ll typically need to show your acceptance letter and proof of sufficient funds. Also, note the 20 ECTS minimum enrollment for visa purposes .)
Eligibility Requirements:
• Be an enrolled student in good standing at a college/university (for exchange). Usually, you should have completed at least one year of undergraduate studies before going abroad, but check with EU if exceptional cases.
• Meet EU’s academic standards – This typically means a solid GPA equivalent. While EU doesn’t list a specific GPA, admissions will look for evidence you can handle the coursework.
• Meet the English requirement – Since instruction is in English, you must demonstrate sufficient English level (e.g. TOEFL iBT ~79+, IELTS 6.0+, or equivalent tests) . You can choose English Foundation Program if you don’t have confidence in your English language skill.
• Have approval from your home institution (if applicable) – If there’s no existing agreement with EU, don’t worry – you can still apply as a free mover student . Just make sure to coordinate credit transfer and any permission to study abroad with your home university’s academic advisors.
Tuition and Fee Structure 💰
Studying abroad at a private institution like EU Business School is an investment in your future – but what will it cost? Here we break down the tuition and fees so you can plan your budget.
Application Fee: As mentioned, there is a €200 (or equivalent) application fee to apply . This is a one-time fee paid during the application process.
Tuition Fees: Tuition will depend on the campus you choose and whether you are undergraduate or graduate level. EU Business School’s fees are transparent and fixed per semester/term. To give you an idea:
• Bachelor’s programs: Tuition is approximately €6,450 per semester for the Barcelona, Munich, or online campuses, and CHF 13,800 per semester for the Geneva or Montreux campuses . This reflects the different local economies (Switzerland is more expensive, hence higher tuition in CHF).
• Master’s/MBA programs: Tuition for graduate courses is typically charged per term. Master’s programs at EU are three terms (trimesters) for a full year. For example, an MBA term in Barcelona is around €4,600, while in Switzerland a master’s term is around CHF 9,600 . Over an academic year (3 terms), that comes to roughly €13,800 (Barcelona/Munich) or CHF 28,800 (Geneva/Montreux) for a full year at the graduate level. Note: Graduate program fees can vary slightly by program; always confirm the latest fee with EU’s admissions team.
If your home university has a partnership with EU Business School, there might be special fee arrangements. Some partner school students continue to pay tuition to their home institution and then attend EU without paying EU tuition (the home and host institution settle costs via exchange agreements).

Scholarships and Funding Opportunities 🎓💵
When it comes to financing your study abroad, it’s good to know what aid is (and isn’t) available. EU Business School is a private institution and currently does not offer internal scholarships or financial aid to students . That means there aren’t university-funded scholarships that will reduce your tuition. However – don’t be deterred! – there are other ways to secure funding or reduce costs, and EU is supportive in these endeavors.
We are an official agent for EU Business School and can arrange our special scholarship for you.
